# In conversation with Oscar Hernandez

**From Costa Rica to Ocala – Oscar Hernandez’s Journey with Horses and Horsemanship**

In this episode of the Equine74 podcast, host Christian speaks with Oscar Hernandez, a showjumper, trainer, and horse dealer from Costa Rica, now based in Ocala, Florida. Oscar shares how growing up on a cattle farm and his father’s classical training in Spain shaped his foundation in horsemanship.

He talks about his move to the U.S., building his own business, and his philosophy of sourcing kind, rideable horses for amateur riders. Oscar recalls special horses in his life—including his first mare Skippy—and emphasizes the importance of trust and connection.
The episode also covers fitness routines, modern sport horse demands, and Oscar’s experience with Equine74. He shares the remarkable transformation of a tense, ulcer-prone horse using the supplement and how “letting the horse tell you” has become his guiding principle.
